Teen Adventure Trips provide you with the chance to develop outdoor skills, forge new relationships with others, enjoy wild landscapes, and strengthen your self-reliance in outdoor settings. Whether you’re an experienced outdoor leader or have never slept a night in a tent before, each of these trips is designed to accommodate different levels of experience.
Most trips start and end at Camp Henry. Gear that is specific to each trip will be provided.

2020 Teen Adventure Trips

South Manitou Island

Need to get away from it all.  We understand.  Need to get away from it all on an Island.  We understand.  Need to get away from it all and get to hiking, camping, paddling, light houses, sand dunes and more.  We’ve got the spot for you.  Our South Manitou trip has all that and more.  Spend a week on South Manitou getting to experience Michigan’s version of Island Life.  Oh, did we mention there are at least 50 ships wrecked near the island, maybe you will get to see one of those…either way get ready for an Island Adventure.

Alaska Bound

Join Camp Henry for this once in a lifetime trip to Alaska!!! We will fly into Anchorage and take two weeks to sample the best that Alaska has to offer.

  • White Water rafting through Denali National Park
  • Backcountry camping at Wonder Lake near the base of Denali
  • Sea Kayaking in the Gulf of Alaska
  • Hiking to amazing High Mountain Lakes and Glaciers
  • Visit and explore Alaskan towns and villages
  • Wildlife Viewing Opportunities including Bears, Moose, and Whales

Jake will be leading this trip. In addition to being Camp Henry’s Director, he is the former camp director for a Summer Camp in Alaska, led this trip in 2001, 2004, 2012, and 2016 and has Wilderness First Aid Training. All equipment and instruction are provided. Airfare, all meals, ground transportation, excursion fares, and all fees provided.

This trip involves strenuous physical activity and participants will need to be prepared, physically fit and excited to hike, paddle, and explore.

Ages 15-17 * participants must be at least 15 years old by 07/01/2020.
Cost: $2,750 * based on airfare estimate. Price and dates will be confirmed by 10/01/19.

Kentucky/Tennessee

If you like hiking, waterfalls and underground zip lines….wait… that can’t be right…an underground zip line…..YUP, underground, then this is the trip for you.  Join us as we head to Tennessee for a trip full of hiking, waterfalls and sights too beautiful for words.  We will make a quick pit stop in Louisville Kentucky for an underground cavern zip tour and then continue to explore the much higher ground Tennessee has to offer.  All gear provided, bring your own sleeping bag and an adventurous spirit.

Ohiopyle

Take a trek to the western Pennsylvania woods and experience the Youghiogheny River for some world class white water rafting! Ohiopyle is perfect for a wilderness voyager. Activities might include hiking, sliding down natural waterslides, and experiencing the beautiful waterfalls including the famous “Falling Waters” house by Frank Lloyd Wright. All gear and meals provided. Bring your own sleeping bag.

U.P. North Adventure

Spend a week paddling, exploring and experiencing Michigan’s Upper Peninsula from the view point of a sea kayak.  You might get to check out Picture Rock Cliffs, or maybe Coopers Island.  Camp out on an island at semi-rustic camp sites, take hikes and see views others only dream about seeing and come ready to make memories you will have for the rest of your life.

Appalachian Adventure

Immerse yourself in the spender of the Appalachian mountain of North Carolina on this weeklong expedition.  Spend a day at the Nantahala Outdoor Center white water rafting the Nantahala River Gorge and navigating their tree tops on a high ropes adventure course.  Follow that up with time pent hiking trails among scenic mountains and experiencing some of western Carolina’s beautiful waterfalls.  Including a trip to sliding Rock.  We will have the opportunity to escape the heat with a tubing trip down Deep Creek.

Come give your time and energy, get your hands dirty, work hard, and get a glimpse into behind-the-scenes projects at camp. As a part of the crew, you will experience what it means to have a servant’s heart and what it means to lead by example. Part of your day will be spent with your cabin enjoying the traditional camp activities and a few hours each day will be directed towards serving camp.
