Tom Halstead Memorial

Oct 16, 1938 - Nov 01, 2022

Tom Halstead had a long and enduring connection to Camp Henry. He attended Camp Henry in the 1950s as a camper and would later return to serve as Camp Henry's Facilities director for decades. Tom sold his business in Lansing in 1986 and left to serve at his favorite place in the word - Camp Henry. Tom and his wife Barb were the camp caretakers, camp parents to countless summer staff members, greeters and hosts for Westminster by the Lake services, and poured years and years of love into Camp Henry and everyone they met.

Tom never met a stranger, was quick to laugh, and had a smile that could get anyone through the long days at camp that went from sunup to sundown. Tom lived out his faith with a hammer in his hand and a twinkle in his eye. He was never too busy to lend a helping hand - or to stop to visit over a plate of bacon and a cup of coffee.

We are thrilled to be able to honor Tom by creating a memorial and tribute to him and the countless ways in which he impacted thousands of people at Camp Henry. We will be creating a gathering space in memory of Tom, where campers, guests, and staff members can gather and laugh and take in the sights and sounds of Camp Henry and Kimball Lake.
